Markings

* This page is graphic intensive, please be patient while loading*

The list of markings below are all accepted with the Sabino Horse Registry International. Basically all white markings are acceptable with the exception of ANY spots or markings which can be directly associated with another spotting gene such as Tobiano or Frame.

White roaning, ticking, graying are accepted with the same constraints. If a horse is gray or roan the base color for that horse should be identified on the application if known and the appropriate box to indicate roan or gray checked if applicable. True roan should not be confused with Sabino roaning. To be a true roan one parent must be a true roan. To distinguish by appearance, True Roans have dark faces and legs and manes and tails unless the Sabino roaning influence has covered that.

MARKINGS LIST:

It is highly desirable for a horse to have irregular edges and/or roaning at the edges of the white markings. Further it is desired that the shape of the markings themselves be odd shaped or a partial marking such as a stocking running up only one side of the leg. In the case of minimally marked horses it is necessary that they also express at least two or more of the below listed markings in order to qualify for registry.

Applicant may be asked to take a detailed photograph of a particular marking in order for the Registry to ascertain if that marking is an expression of the Sabino .
